Prawn's cave - 47

E-mail Print PDF

Going down following the mooring buoy chain to a depth of –18 metres , the base of posidonia deteriorates until -22 metres where a vertical cliff starts, which plunges down into the blue expanse. In this cliff we can find red coral (Corallium rubrum), martens, spiny lobsters, and if we're lucky, dogfish. At a depth of -37 there is a crack which goes into the rock ten metres or so, here lives the narval or unicorn shrimp (Plesionika narval), a crustacean with long antenna which lives in large colonies. Here we need to take great care not to stir up the muddy bottom with our flippers.
