Secca dell'Isoela - 50

E-mail Print PDF

One of the most beautiful dives of the Promontory, as well as the most popular. Descent takes place along the mooring buoy chain and the direction is decided according to the currents. Keeping the cliff face on our right we go down to the maximum allowed depth, -40 metres, and we find red sea-fans (Paramuricea clavata), sea slugs, red coral (Corallium rubrum), scorpion fish, martens. Rising gradually up the slope, a split opens up, inside which corals, sea daisies and Leptosammia can be found, while a little further on in the ravines, a great many spiny lobsters. Moving up in a spiral shape, we are now on the north side where the habitat is similar but on the sea fans' branches we can see dogfish eggs. Now with the dive almost at an end, at the highest point of the shallows we can observe white sea bream, dentex, scorpion fish, octopus, morays, congers, and remarkably large groupers.
