Colombara - 45

E-mail Print PDF

You descend following the mooring buoy chain moving to a depth of –36 metres where there is a deep cave completely covered with sea daisies (Parazoanthus) and red coral (Corallium rubrum), on the floor there are wonderful spirographs . In the ravines around the cave opening, the spiny lobsters' long antennae can be noticed, inside the cave you may even find some martens. The face above is full of red sea fans (Paramuricea clavata), in whose fronds live many species of sea slugs . When starting to return to a lesser depth, at –22 metres we find the entrance to a tunnel, we must move through it carefully so as not to damage the red coral which grows on its walls. We can also find cup prawns (Palaemon serratus) , this passage takes us up to -18 metres. If our air reserves allow it we can move eastwards where we can observe groupers, fan mussels (Pinna Nobilis) and anemones, otherwise we can head back to the starting point in order to see the last cavern at –12 metres, inside of which there are 2 routes, one horizontal to observe shrimp and brittle stars, the other is a chimney which takes us to the surface inside an open gorge, we go down again and return to the chain in order to carry out our safety stop.
